The Anwar Sadat Chair for Peace and Development and Arts for All is pleased to announce two new programs in collaboration with and expanding from the annual Sadat Art for Justice and Peace program. This year, the Sadat Chair and Arts for All will be hosting the Inaugural Sadat Music for Justice and Peace Competition and the Inaugural Sadat Poetry for Justice and Peace Competition.
The three competitions are centered around one theme and invite students who are eligible in the respective schools and programs to reflect on what this year's theme means to them and how to best represent that theme through the medium of Art, Music, and Poetry.
This year’s theme is based on the quote:
“ To suppress free speech is a double wrong. It violates the rights of the hearer as well as those of the speaker. ”
- Frederick Douglass, 1860
